Summary of Stakeholder Feedback

Summary of Stakeholder Feedback Stakeholders emphasized that misalignment between education, training, and industry needs—combined with a decentralized system and barriers such as childcare and housing—limits employers’ ability to hire and scale their workforce. They strongly supported streamlining and better integrating education and workforce systems to reduce fragmentation and respond to employer needs. Most feedback on K-12 focused on adequate system funding with deteriorating outcomes. Stakeholders also voiced broad support for expanding sector-based talent pipelines, though sustained funding remains a challenge. Many stakeholders also noted the need for greater investment in Oregon’s public universities to reduce reliance on tuition revenue, make higher education more affordable and develop the talent needed for a competitive economy. Many cited the semiconductor workforce model as an example of effective coordination among industry, higher education, and training providers.
